In 2019, Bates White and its employees donated a combined total of more than $189,000 to the community through its Bates White Community Connection (BWCC) program. This new record tops last year’s effort by $24,000. To achieve these results, employees organized 42 initiatives throughout the year to support 33 nonprofit organizations—that’s seven more initiatives and eight more organizations than the firm supported in 2018, which was also a record-breaking year.
The year’s fundraising programs included competitions to raise money for Children’s Law Center, the National Center for Child Abuse Statistics and Policy, and DC Scores; conducting Balloon Wars for Camp Kesem GW; preparing meals at DC Central Kitchen; holding clothing drives for Bread for the City; mentoring students through Higher Achievement; and sponsoring teams in the Walk & 5K to End HIV and Lawyers Have Heart.
Charlie Mullin, Bates White Managing Partner, said, “We are incredibly proud to have contributed so much to the community. These results reflect our firm’s dedication to creating a workplace that empowers employees and supports their incredible passion to contribute to our community across so many dimensions.”
