Through its pro bono program, Bates White has partnered with DC Greens to evaluate the effectiveness of its Produce Prescription (Produce Rx) Program.
Produce Rx allows medical professionals to prescribe fresh produce for patients experiencing diet-related chronic illnesses such as pre-diabetes, diabetes, and hypertension. Numerous clinics providing food, health, and other community services across DC take part in the program. Once enrolled, patients can fill their prescriptions at participating local food stores by loading funds on a store bonus card, then using those funds to purchase prescribed fruits and vegetables at checkout.
Bates White worked with DC Greens to develop a tool that provides interactive charts and statistics on Produce Rx enrollment, prescription filling, and food redemption. The team provides regular updates to the tool, which DC Greens uses for quarterly reports on the program’s efficacy. Bates White also assists in calculating supplemental statistics for these reports.
