Bates White to work with Korea Electric Power Corporation on UK nuclear project
Bates White has been retained to work with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), the largest electric utility in South Korea, on a British nuclear project. The British company NuGen, solely owned by Toshiba, plans to develop a new generation nuclear power station of up to 3.8 GW gross capacity at the Moorside site on the northwest coast of England. KEPCO will determine the economic feasibility and viability of acquiring NuGen from Toshiba and building two APR 1400 facilities, advanced pressurized water nuclear reactors designed by KEPCO.
Bates White will evaluate key risks related to the project and provide an independent opinion on economic feasibility.
Partner David DeRamus and Principal Spencer Yang will lead a team analyzing economic and market issues and coordinate the work of three technical and legal firms on legal and technical issues. Bates White was awarded the work through a rigorous competitive bidding process.
