In an article published on June 17, 2019 in Law360, Greg Duff, firm chair and principal of Garvey Schubert Barer and Steve DiJulio, managing partner of Foster Pepper, provide insight into the combination of the firms to create Foster Garvey PC.
Combined, Foster Pepper and Garvey Schubert Barer, will create one of the largest law firms based in the Pacific Northwest with more than 180 attorneys across six offices.
“This combination of equally strong firms is a unique opportunity to strengthen and expand the services provided to our clients, including more comprehensive knowledge, greater industry insights and broader geographic reach," said Duff.
DiJulio and Duff, who will serve as co-chairs of Foster Garvey, stated that both firms started looking independently for potential combinations in fall 2018. The two firms felt that they would work well together based on their strong community ties in the Pacific Northwest, focus on diversity and emphasis on public services.
"Particularly in the northwest, the clients aren't just interested in good legal services because those can be had just about anywhere and you don't have to look locally for that," DiJulio said, adding that what clients do look for is a commitment to the community and to diversity and inclusion, which both firms have.
Foster Garvey will continue representing several prominent mutual clients, including the Port of Seattle, Columbia Bank, Costco Wholesale Corp., Space Needle LLC and the Washington State Convention Center.
