Robert J. Flanagan III, Jemi Goulian Lucey, and Maja M. Obradovic, partners in the firm’s Litigation Department, will be panelists at the all-day virtual “NJICLE Winter Conference,” to be presented by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJICLE) on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 8:45am – 6:30pm (ET).

Mr. Flanagan, Ms. Lucey and Ms. Obradovic will participate in the presentation “Employment Law in the Federal Court – A Winter 2020 Update” in the Conference’s Labor and Employment Track. The program, scheduled from 10:30am – 12:10pm, will be presented in cooperation with the NJSBA Federal Practice & Procedure Section.

Employment attorneys have been busy over the last seven months and there is no sign of slowing soon. The issues are many and intricate, and while the Superior Court hears its share of cases, the busy federal courts also decide these heated disputes.

Ms. Lucey will moderate and join Mr. Flanagan and Ms. Obradovic as speakers on a panel of experienced labor and employment practitioners who will provide an update on federal employment law in the midst of a continued pandemic, and what to expect in 2021. The program agenda includes:

Mr. Flanagan, a member of the firm's Criminal Defense & Regulatory Compliance Practice Group, has a practice that encompasses all aspects of both state and federal civil and criminal litigation pre-trial, trial, and appellate practice. His experience is focused in the areas of banking and creditors’ rights, white collar criminal defense, landlord-tenant disputes, personal injury, debt collection and commercial litigation.

Ms. Lucey, a member of the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group and co-Chair of the Higher Education Practice Group, is a trial attorney who focuses her practice on employment, higher education and professional negligence matters. She represents private and public entities, including institutions of higher learning, in employment discrimination and retaliation actions, professional negligence cases, Title IX claims, and business disputes.

Ms. Obradovic co-chairs the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group. Her employment litigation experience includes the defense of a variety of employment discrimination, whistleblower, wrongful discharge, and restrictive covenant claims.  Her work in the area of employment counseling includes employment contract negotiations and the review and drafting of restrictive covenants, employee handbooks and employment policies.
