Greenbaum partners Robert S. Goldsmith and Michael J. Coskey will be panelists for the live webinar “Navigating Redevelopment Law in NJ: What You Need to Know,” to be presented by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 9:00am – 12:00pm.
This presentation will focus on the complexities of redevelopment law in New Jersey. Discussion topics will include:
- An overview of the local housing and redevelopment law
- Redevelopment area designation: Criteria for identifying and designating redevelopment areas and their evolution following Malanga v. West Orange
- Redevelopment plans: Key land use considerations in drafting and adopting redevelopment plans, including how to address parking regulations
- An overview of the long-term tax exemption law: Important considerations for PILOTs
- Changing landscape of redevelopment: An update on new legislation and regulations impacting affordable housing, liquor licensing, building permit reform, stormwater, flood hazard areas and other environmental regulations
Mr. Goldsmith is Co-Chair of the Redevelopment & Land Use Department. His practice focuses on redevelopment, downtown and urban revitalization, transit oriented development, project financing and incentives, sustainable building initiatives and public-private partnerships. His experience also encompasses counseling clients on the specialized issues in redevelopment related to parking demand, design and construction.
Mr. Coskey is a member of the Redevelopment & Land Use and Real Estate Departments. He concentrates his practice in the acquisition, disposition and leasing of commercial and multi-family residential properties, and the development and redevelopment of real estate. He represents clients before municipal land use boards and governing bodies and has experience overseeing title disputes and drafting easements, restrictive covenants, and other operational and organizational documents.
