Robert S. Goldsmith, co-chair of the firm’s Redevelopment & Land Use Department, will be on the faculty for the live webinar “Opportunity Zones: Opportunities and Challenges Explored,” to be presented by the Knowledge Group on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 12:00pm – 2pm (ET).
Designed to spur economic growth in distressed communities, Qualified Opportunity Zones (QOZ) were created through the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to encourage investment in low-income areas by providing tax benefits such as potential deferment, reduction, or removal of tax liabilities. While it seems to be an exciting and worthy investment, businesses and investors should still be cautious, as economic and regulatory risks must be addressed first before proceeding into an Opportunity Zone investment.
Mr. Goldsmith and his fellow panelists will provide an in-depth analysis of QOZ investments as well as recent updates and developments surrounding the topic and best practices to overcome the challenges while maximizing opportunities.
Mr. Goldsmith's practice focuses on redevelopment, downtown and urban revitalization, transit oriented development, project financing and incentives, sustainable building initiatives and public-private partnerships. His experience encompasses counseling clients on the specialized issues in redevelopment related to parking demand, design and construction.
