Robert Beckelman and Steven G. Mlenak, members of the firm’s Redevelopment & Land Use Department, will lecture on “The Anachronisms of Redevelopment and Land Use” at the 2019 New Jersey Planning Conference, which will be held on January 24 & 25, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick.  Their presentation - which will examine the issues faced by developers and redevelopers as they strive to find a middle path between evolving market demands and anachronistic public expectations to meet long-term financial and design success - is scheduled for Thursday, January 24 from 2:30 - 4:00pm

With over 50 sessions, 200 speakers, and 700 attendees, the annual conference is the largest land use conference in the state.  The event, co-hosted by the American Planning Association – New Jersey Chapter and the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, aims to educate and empower planners and other land use professionals, elected and appointed officials, and citizen activists on ways to advance the art and science of good planning — physical, economic and social — to create communities that offer better and more equitable choices for how people live, work and play.

Mr. Beckelman focuses his practice in redevelopment, land use and zoning, eminent domain, affordable housing and related litigation. He represents developers and property owners in connection with land use and zoning matters and disputes, and also represents numerous New Jersey municipalities as special redevelopment or litigation counsel. 

Mr. Mlenak concentrates his practice in the areas of redevelopment, land use, zoning, and real estate development. His clients include property owners and developers engaged in mixed use, residential, industrial, commercial, office, retail and affordable housing development projects.
