Barry S. Goodman, a partner in the Woodbridge office of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, has been appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court Professional Responsibility Rules Committee. The Committee is charged with two tasks: to review and report on referrals from the court that relate to the Rules of Professionals Conduct, and also to entertain and act on issues raised by the Bench, the Bar, the Office of Attorney Ethics, or a member of the Committee.
Goodman was also the speaker at the seminar entitled “Private Communities: Rights and Responsibilities” on June 19th. The seminar was presented by the Community Association Institute of New Jersey and it was co-sponsored by Rutgers School of Law- Camden and Rutgers School of Law- Newark.
Goodman is the chair of the firm’s Real Estate Brokerage Practice Group. His practice focuses on handling real estate and real estate brokerage issues; complex commercial litigation, including antitrust suits, corporate shareholders’ and partnership disputes, and other business cases; and municipal law. He is a frequent author and lecturer on real estate and other brokerage issues and serves as General Counsel for the New Jersey Association of REALTORS®.
Goodman is a recipient of the prestigious 2006 Rutgers University Alumni Meritorious Service Award. He also is a past president of the Rutgers-Newark Law School Alumni Association and of the United Way of Hunterdon County, and is a trustee of the Hunterdon Healthcare System and the Hunterdon Medical Center. He recently was elected as president of the Interest On Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Fund and has been a trustee of the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey.
Goodman also is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Real Property and Antitrust Sections, the American Bar Association’s Litigation and Antitrust Sections, and the Hunterdon County and Middlesex County Bar Associations. He is a cum laude graduate of Rutgers College and received his law degree from Rutgers-Newark School of Law.
