Emily A. Kaller, a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department, has been appointed Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) LGBTQ Rights Section.  Ms. Kaller was sworn into her new role during the Bar’s recent Annual Meeting and Convention in Atlantic City.

Ms. Kaller has long been a passionate and proactive advocate for the rights of underrepresented individuals. On assuming leadership of the LGBTQ Rights Section, she comments: “I am so proud to serve as Section Chair. My goal for this year is to encourage, with the support of my firm, the many talented lawyers in our Section as they continue to promote the inclusion and acceptance of all members of the LGBTQ community by vigilantly defending and advancing the rights of LGBTQ individuals.”

The LGBTQ Rights Section addresses issues that are of importance to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the legal profession. It advocates for and promotes the civil and human rights of the LGBTQ community, strives to improve access to justice for LGBTQ individuals and works to advance professional opportunities for LGBTQ attorneys and judges. Section members monitor and comment on new legislation, confer with legislators and give testimony in the state assembly and senate, and seek to advocate for the LGBTQ community in the courts and through legislative action.

Focusing her practice on commercial litigation, Ms. Kaller has experience in the prosecution and defense of financing, credit and other banking matters and contract disputes, representing clients in both state and federal courts and before the New Jersey Supreme Court, Appellate Division and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. She is the Immediate Past President and Board of Trustees Chair of Trial Attorneys of New Jersey (TANJ), a past Chair of the NJSBA’s Women in the Profession Section, and a member of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey (AFBNJ) and the Middlesex County Bar Association (MCBA). She previously served numerous terms on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Women in the Courts and serves on the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Leadership Team.
