Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP is pleased to announce that Fay L. Szakal has joined the firm as an associate in the Corporate, Healthcare and Real Estate Departments.

Ms. Szakal focuses her practice in corporate, real estate and healthcare transactions. Her work encompasses the drafting and negotiation of corporate agreements and contracts, including those related to mergers and acquisitions of business entities, corporate and company formation, real estate and redevelopment matters, healthcare and private equity deals, financing matters, and other commercial transactions. Ms. Szakal has experience closing multi-million-dollar development project deals involving a broad range of interested parties and complicated transactional issues related to the organization and operation of newly formed companies.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Szakal worked for a boutique New Jersey law firm where she split her practice between corporate transactional work and litigation. As a litigator, she provided representation in all aspects of litigation, including pre-litigation counseling, settlement negotiation, motion practice and appellate and Supreme Court advocacy, including successfully petitioning for certification to the New Jersey Supreme Court and overturning an adverse opinion. In addition, she represented a variety of public entity clients as special counsel, litigation counsel, substitute township attorney, and redevelopment counsel.

Ms. Szakal is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s LGBTQ Rights and Business Law Sections, as well as the Middlesex County Bar Association. She is listed in Super Lawyers - New Jersey Rising Stars in the Business/Corporate practice area. She received her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law-Newark and earned her B.A. cum laude from The University of Chicago. A former law clerk to The Honorable Carmen Messano, New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, she is licensed to practice in New Jersey and New York, and in the U.S. District Courts for the District of New Jersey, Southern District of New York, and Eastern District of New York.
