Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP is pleased to announce the publication of the 2024 edition of “New Jersey Condominium and Community Association Law” (Gann Law Books). The book, co-authored by firm attorneys Wendell A. Smith, Dennis A. Estis and Christine F. Li, is a practical guide to assist condominium and other common interest communities, attorneys and other professionals, as well as lay persons.

The latest edition of this popular treatise includes revised Master Deed and By-law Provisions, as well as an update on related New Jersey case law. The publication contains a detailed discussion of the legal, financial, and marketplace requirements imposed on developers and the consequences of these requirements for lenders and individual unit purchasers. By means of a point-by-point treatment of the provisions of a master deed, by-laws and other critical documents, the book highlights solutions to problems frequently encountered in the creation and administration of common interest projects. It includes statutes, regulations, sample documents and discussions of significant cases.

Mr. Estis, a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department and Co-Chair of the Construction Disputes Practice Group, concentrates his practice on condominium and community association law and complex commercial litigation, with a particular focus on construction law, public entity law and alternative dispute resolution. His practice also encompasses real estate and business disputes and general equity matters. He is a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, the American Bar Foundation, the College of Community Association Lawyers, the National Conference of Bar Presidents, and the Construction Lawyers Society of America.

Ms. Li, a partner in the Real Estate Department, chairs the firm’s Community Association and Planned Real Estate Practice Groups. She focuses her practice in real estate, with a concentration in planned real estate development law and condominium law. Her work encompasses new construction condominium and subdivided lot communities, the conversion of rental properties to the condominium form of ownership, mixed-use developments, commercial and business condominiums, workouts of distressed communities, community association law, and the registration of planned real estate developments with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA).  She is a Fellow in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and the College of Community Association Lawyers.

Mr. Smith, Of Counsel to the firm’s Real Estate Department, focused on real estate law and provided practical and sophisticated representation to national and local real estate developers, lending institutions, and numerous condominium, cooperative and other common interest communities throughout his long and distinguished career. He is a Charter Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and the College of Community Association Lawyers, and General Counsel Emeritus and Founding President of the Community Associations Institute New Jersey Chapter (CAI-NJ).
