Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP is pleased to announce that two of the firm’s young partners, Kersten Kortbawi and David C. Scott, have been selected for inclusion by NJBIZ on a 2024 list called “Leaders in Law.” An event showcasing the legal professionals who received this year’s recognition is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 8:00am – 10:00am at The Palace at Somerset Park.
According to NJBIZ, the publication’s selections for “Leaders in Law” recognize lawyers and general counsels “whose dedication to their occupation and to their communities is outstanding.” Following an open nomination period, honorees are chosen by a panel of independent judges with experience in the justice system.
Ms. Kortbawi is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department. An experienced commercial litigator, she represents plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal civil litigation from pre-suit investigation through discovery, trial, and the appellate process. She frequently handles sensitive, unique, and high-exposure matters, including complex construction disputes, consumer fraud claims, private equity fraud, personal injury actions, product liability matters, and insurance defense matters. She earned her J.D. cum laude from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark and her B.S. cum laude from New York University. She is Co-Secretary of the New Jersey State Bar Association Construction Law Section and is a Trustee of the Middlesex County Bar Association, where she chairs the Legislative Committee.
Mr. Scott is a partner in the Environmental Department. His practice emphasizes transactions, permitting, and regulatory compliance. He provides counsel on environmental risks associated with real estate and business transactions, methods for mitigating those risks, and strategies for addressing environmental issues when they do arise. He earned his J.D. cum laude from Vermont Law School and his B.S. magna cum laude from the S.U.N.Y College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He is a Director of the New Jersey State Bar Association Environmental Law Section and serves on the New Jersey Builders Association’s Environmental Committee, NAIOP New Jersey’s Regulatory Affairs Committee, the Commerce & Industry Association of New Jersey’s Manufacturing Forum Steering Committee, and as a member of the Environmental Business Council’s Contaminants of Emerging Concern Working Group.
