The ACDL-NJ serves as a primary voice for the criminal defense bar in New Jersey. The group’s mission supports criminal defense lawyers in their efforts to protect and comply with the individual rights of the clients they represent, and to encourage cooperation among members of the criminal defense bar engaged in the furtherance of that objective. More than 500 ACDL-NJ members across New Jersey advocate on behalf of criminal defendants, especially those in difficult situations. Since its formation, the ACDL-NJ has served as amicus curiae on behalf of the interests of the criminal defense bar and its clients, has advocated on behalf of its members in state and federal courts, and has monitored legislation impacting criminal defendants.
