Goldsmith, Co-Chair of the firm’s Redevelopment & Land Use Department, will be a panelist at the Book Launch, Symposium and Networking Reception celebrating the publication of the 3rd edition of “The Redevelopment Handbook: A Guide to Rebuilding New Jersey’s Communities.” The event will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 3:00pm – 6:00pm, at the Rutgers-New Brunswick Edward J. Co-authored by Stan Slachetka and David Roberts, the publication is the recognized reference on redevelopment in New Jersey and has been used widely by planners, attorneys, public officials, educators, and the public to understand how redevelopment can be used to revitalize communities and advance local and regional planning objectives. APA New Jersey supported the preparation of the new edition of The Redevelopment Handbook, with members of the chapter’s Redevelopment Committee having authored many of the case studies that appear in the handbook along with those authored by other planning professionals and graduate planning students at the Bloustein School.

Mr. Goldsmith will be a panelist for an introduction to the 3rd edition of The Redevelopment Handbook and an overview of the current legal and statutory landscape. A second panel will feature a review of special topics in redevelopment and case studies highlighting how redevelopment is being used to achieve important community planning objectives, including climate change and resiliency, social justice and equity, stranded assets, transit-oriented development, and brownfield redevelopment.

Mr. Goldsmith's practice focuses on redevelopment, downtown and urban revitalization, transit-oriented development, project financing and incentives, sustainable building initiatives and public-private partnerships. His experience encompasses counseling clients on the specialized issues in redevelopment related to parking demand, design and construction.
