Robert S. Goldsmith and Meryl A.G. Gonchar, Real Estate Department partners in the Woodbridge office of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, were two of the 29 attorneys selected for the “Meet the Lawyers” issue of Real Estate New Jersey magazine in April 2007.

Goldsmith, chair of the firm’s Redevelopment Practice Group, concentrates his practice in downtown redevelopment and revitalization. He has counseled and consulted with both developers and municipalities for many redevelopment projects throughout the state and over 30 Special Improvement Districts. He is listed in Chambers USA- Leading Business Lawyers in the Real Estate: Zoning/ Land Use category and The Best Lawyers in America in the Real Estate category.

Goldsmith was special counsel to Morristown for the Headquarters Plaza Project from 1978 to 1990. He has served as counsel to the Morristown Parking Authority since 1983 and has been involved in numerous redevelopment projects in that capacity. He has served as special counsel to the City of Long Branch, Borough of Princeton, Town of Westfield, City of North Wildwood and City of Millville for redevelopment projects. Goldsmith has also been involved in redevelopment and revitalization projects in Woodbridge, Rahway, South Amboy, Jersey City, Morristown, South Bound Brook, Matawan, Wildwood, Stanhope, Netcong, Phillipsburg, Trenton, Aberdeen and East Brunswick. He has developed and currently teaches a redevelopment law course at Rutgers Law School, Newark, and he frequently lectures on downtown redevelopment and revitalization issues. He is past president of Downtown New Jersey and a board member of New Jersey Future. He also serves on the New Jersey Committee of the Regional Plan Association and a member of the Main Street New Jersey Board of Advisors.

Gonchar, chair of the firm’s Land Use Practice Group, concentrates her practice in land use and zoning, and land use litigation. She has appeared before planning and zoning boards throughout the state on behalf of developer clients in connection with all types of residential, commercial and industrial projects. She also represents clients in land use, condemnation and related litigation before the Superior Court of New Jersey. She is listed in Chambers USA - America’s Leading Business Lawyers 2005-2006 in the Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use practice area and in The Best Lawyers In America in the Real Estate category.

Gonchar has spoken and written on a variety of land use related topics to real estate and legal associations, as well as financial institutions and professional organizations. She is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, where she has served on the Legislative Committee, and she is a past chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Land Use Law Section. She is also a past president of Industrial/Commercial Real Estate Women - New Jersey (ICREW-NJ).
