FCC Extends Biennial Ownership Report Deadline to December 20

November 18, 2013

On Friday, November 15, 2013, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) issued an Order extending until December 20, 2013 the deadline for commercial full-power AM, FM, TV, LPTV, and Class A stations and entities with attributable interests to file their biennial ownership reports.

The FCC had earlier extended the deadline from November 1, 2013 to December 2, 2013.  However, the FCC’s Consolidated Database System (CDBS), which hosts the reports, was unavailable during the government shut down, making it impossible for filers to access previous reports or to prepare their current reports.

Despite the extension, the Order encourages filers to submit their reports as early as possiblea suggestion with which we concur given the system’s propensity to grind to a halt near major filing deadlines.
