Michael Toner Weighs in on Chris Christie’s PAC Formation
Michael E. Toner, co-chair of Wiley Rein’s Election Law & Government Ethics Practice, was quoted in an article published yesterday in The Philadelphia Inquirer about a new political action committee (PAC) announced by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, further signaling his possible intention to run for president in 2016.
Mr. Toner, a former chairman of the Federal Election Commission, said that money raised by the PAC cannot be transferred to a presidential campaign, but that the committee can accept individual donations up to $5,000. PAC money cannot be used to pay for campaign activities like polling.
