Wiley Rein & Fielding Attorneys and Practice Groups Rated Among the Country's Best

May 25, 2005

Washington, DC-Ten attorneys in Wiley Rein & Fielding LLP's Communications, Government Contracts, Insurance and International Trade Practices, as well as the practice groups themselves, have been ranked among the region's and country's best in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business.  The legal publisher compiles the rankings through a series of extensive interviews of law firms' clients, colleagues and competitors.

Recognized as "Leading Lawyers" by their peers and clients are communications attorneys Richard E. Wiley and Lawrence W. Secrest, III.  Wiley, WRF's managing partner, is singled out as the "star performer" in the telecom, broadcast and satellite regulatory arena for the second consecutive year.  Secrest, chair of the firm's Media Group, is also recognized for his expertise in telecom, broadcast and satellite regulatory matters.

Leading lawyer Rand L. Allen heads the firm's nationally renowned Government Contracts Practice.  Recently, Allen was named the "Leading Government Contracts Lawyer" in the Washington, DC area by Legal Times.

Thomas W. Brunner, chair of the firm's Insurance Practice, one of the largest in the country, is again recognized as one of the best insurance lawyers in Washington, DC.  Also receiving accolades are leading insurance attorneys Laura A. Foggan, Theodore A. Howard, Daniel J. Standish and John C. Yang.

Representing the firm's International Trade Practice are Charles Owen Verrill, Jr., chair of the group, and John B. Reynolds III.  Verrill is recognized for his experience in trade remedies and national trade policy; Reynolds for his experience in export controls and national economic sanctions.

This is the third year that London-based Chambers and Partners has published its USA guide.  Chambers researchers evaluate law firms and attorneys on a number of factors, including: technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment and other qualities most valued by the client.
