WRF Attorney To Be Inducted into National Freedom of Information Act Hall of Fame
Washington, DC—Wiley Rein & Fielding attorney Kathleen A. Kirby has been chosen by the First Amendment Center to be inducted into the National Freedom of Information Act Hall of Fame. She is one of twenty-one inductees who will be honored during the eighth annual National FOI Day Conference on March 16, 2006.
“The Hall of Fame was established to recognize the work and accomplishments of those who have made a difference in the battle against government secrecy,” said Paul McMasters, who coordinated the First Amendment Center’s selection process. Inductees are chosen based on significant contributions in leadership, advocacy or scholarship on behalf of the Freedom of Information Act or open government in general.
The Hall of Fame has named a new class of honorees every fifth year since its inception in 1996.
As part of WRF’s Communications Practice, Ms. Kirby represents broadcast clients on regulatory and transactional matters before the Federal Communications Commission and also specializes in news gathering, content regulation and First Amendment issues. She has served as First Amendment counsel to the Radio-Television News Directors Association since 1994.
