Wiley Rein's Franchise Practice Ranked Among Nation's Best

June 19, 2007

The 2007 edition of Chambers USA:  America’s Leading Lawyers for Business recognizes Wiley Rein’s Franchise Practice as among the best in the nation.

Chambers reports that while based in Washington, Wiley Rein’s team “counsels domestic systems on their franchise documentation and regulatory compliance, as well as working with US franchisors abroad and those trying to establish themselves in overseas markets.”  The group “enjoys a good reputation for assisting franchisors in disputes.”  The publisher notes that last year the team “successfully represented an international educational testing franchisor at federal court” and “acted for a global financial services franchisor concerning the valuation of one of the oldest and largest franchisees as part of a contractual purchase upon nonrenewal.”

Partner Bob Smith receives mention for his work guiding clients through their regulatory obligations.

The Chambers ratings are based on extensive interviews of law firms’ clients, colleagues and competitors.  Inclusion in the directory is determined through a rigorous vetting process whereby Chambers researchers evaluate law firms and attorneys on a number of factors.  This is the first year that franchise law has been included in the directory.
