Wiley Rein's Media Group and Attorneys Rated Among Washington's Best
The 2008 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business recognizes Wiley Rein’s Media Practice as one of the best in Washington, DC and singles out partners Richard E. Wiley and Kathleen Kirby as leading professionals in the field.
In reporting on the group, Chambers notes that the firm is “highly regarded for its regulatory advice;” sources told the publisher that “its FCC-related work is renowned.” The guide reports that the firm “recently advised on the regulatory aspects of XM Satellite Radio’s $15 billion merger with Sirius Satellite Radio.”
“Leading lawyer” Richard E. Wiley, a former FCC Chairman who leads the Media Practice, receives praise as “an exceptionally knowledgeable regulatory practitioner” who “many others strive to imitate.” Calling her a “rising star” Chambers reports that Kathleen Kirby “enjoys a solid reputation for her regulatory and transactional work, often appearing in front of the FCC.”
The Chambers ratings are based on extensive interviews of law firms’ clients, colleagues and competitors. Inclusion in the directory is determined through a rigorous vetting process whereby Chambers researchers evaluate law firms and attorneys on a number of factors.
