Washingtonian Magazine Names Wiley Among Best Lawyers in DC

March 26, 2002

Washington, DC—Richard E. Wiley, founding partner of Wiley Rein & Fielding LLP, was listed among the top 75 lawyers in Washington in the April 2002 issue of Washingtonian magazine.

The magazine called Mr. Wiley "the number-one communications lawyer in the nation." And said, "almost singlehandedly, Wiley has built one of the country’s most respected law firms. His co-name partner, Fred Fielding, a former White House counsel in the Reagan administration, is a top white-collar litigator."

Mr. Wiley is the only communications lawyer to appear on the list that includes high-profile Washington attorneys in a number of practice areas. Wiley Rein & Fielding is nationally recognized as a leader in communications law, with the most comprehensive team of regulatory and transactional specialists in the country. More than seventy professionals are engaged in the firm’s Communications Practice. The firm provides counseling and litigation services for some of the biggest names in radio, television, telephony and the Internet.

This honor from Washingtonian expands Mr. Wiley’s list of special recognitions by many publications: Variety named Mr. Wiley "one of the most influential communications attorneys in the country". The National Law Journal listed him as one of the nation’s Top 100 lawyers. And the Los Angeles Times profiled him as "The Sixth Commissioner" because his continuing influence at the FCC.

In 1997, Washingtonian named WRF Election Law attorney Jan Baran as one of the city's top lawyers.
