Wiley Rein & Fielding Elects Five New Partners
Washington, DC—The law firm of Wiley Rein & Fielding LLP is pleased to announce the election of five new partners effective January 1, 2003. These additions to the partnership are indicative of the firm’s continued growth in several key practice areas.
Joining the partnership are Karyn K. Ablin, M. Evan Corcoran, Marisa D. Faunce, Brian Nuterangelo and Mary Oates Walker.

Karyn K. Ablin joined the firm as a first-year Associate in 1995 and practices in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice. She represents clients in a wide range of copyright, trademark, and food and drug matters. Ms. Ablin has particular expertise in advising clients on copyright music licensing issues, negotiating music licenses on their behalf, and arbitrating and litigating license fee disputes. She also has substantial experience in litigating trademark infringement, trademark dilution, and patent infringement claims; and representing clients in proceedings before the Food and Drug Administration. Ms. Ablin received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a member of Order of the Coif, and served as Executive Editor and Editorial Board Member of Virginia Law Review and Editorial Board Member of the Virginia Journal of International Law.
M. Evan Corcoran has been elevated from Of Counsel to Partner. Mr. Corcoran practices in the firm’s Insurance, Internet & E-Commerce and Litigation Practices. He represents leading corporations in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts throughout the nation, directs internal investigations and represents corporate clients in a broad range of government investigations. Mr. Corcoran is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney in Washington, DC and has tried more than 30 jury trials and argued 20 appellate oral arguments. Mr. Corcoran received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was Notes and Comments Editor for the Journal of Law and Policy in International Business.
Marisa D. Faunce joined the firm as a first-year Associate in 1994 and practices in the firm’s Franchise and Intellectual Property practices. She regularly represents clients with respect to the legal issues that arise when goods and services are sold through franchising and other third-party distribution methods. Ms. Faunce has particular experience in counseling clients on all aspects of domestic and international trademark prosecution and enforcement matters. She received her J.D. from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary, where she was a member of Order of the Coif and the William & Mary Law Review.
Brian Nuterangelo joined the firm in 1996 after his clerkship with the Honorable Ricardo M. Urbina in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Mr. Nuterangelo practices in the firm’s Employment & Labor and Litigation practices. He has significant experience in the areas of employment and commercial litigation as well as corporate investigations and compliance . Mr. Nuterangelo’s expertise in employment matters includes conducting internal investigations and providing compliance guidance regarding federal and state employment, labor, leave and wage and hour laws. He has substantial experience representing employers in federal and state courts, as well as during Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Department of Labor investigations. His practice also involves the litigation of commercial disputes in federal courts and before arbitrators on a variety of commercial matters. Mr. Nuterangelo received his J.D. from The American University Washington College of Law.
Mary Oates Walker practices in the firm's Employment & Labor, Health Care, Litigation and Privacy practices. She has broad experience in civil litigation as well as corporate investigations and compliance. Ms. Walker has expertise in labor and employment matters, including compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII, Executive Order 11246, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act. She has substantial experience counseling health insurance companies on plans offered under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Act and litigating cases involving federal preemption, benefits denials and subrogation. Ms. Walker has also represented clients in government investigations involving the False Claims Act and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. She is a graduate of Howard University School of Law, where she was a Merit Fellow and Co-Captain of the National Moot Court Team.
