Wiley Rein & Fielding Names Andrew G. McBride as Partner in the Communication Practice

Washington, DC-In a move that emphasizes the Firm's continuing growth in the area of telecommunications, Wiley, Rein & Fielding has expanded its 70-attorney communications practice with the appointment of Andrew G. McBride as partner in the Washington, DC office. Prior to joining WRF, Mr. McBride was a partner with the Washington, DC office of Cooper, Carvin & Rosenthal, PLLC. Commenting on the appointment, managing partner Richard E. Wiley stated, "Andrew McBride brings an exceptional litigation track record to the Firm. His significant accomplishments and leadership will enhance our ability to meet the increasing demand for these services from our clients. We are very excited that he has joined our team." Mr. McBride joins WRF with over eleven years of significant trial, appellate and Supreme Court experience, most notably in the areas of telecommunications, Internet regulation and First Amendment. He has represented numerous clients before the FCC, state and federal courts, and state regulatory bodies. Mr. McBride will advise and represent clients on a broad range of substantive areas, including state and federal communications regulation, First Amendment, copyright and general commercial litigation. His addition complements WRF's ability to advise and defend clients in agency enforcement, civil enforcement and potential criminal matters.

Prior to joining WRF, Mr. McBride served almost ten years in the Justice Department, including six years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. He was Chief of Appeals for the Eastern District of Virginia from 1992 to 1993. Mr. McBride has extensive trial experience, including racketeering, communications, health care fraud and investment fraud cases, and has argued over twenty-five criminal and civil appeals in federal courts across the country. Mr. McBride is a former law clerk to Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, United States Supreme Court and to Judge Robert H. Bork, United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Holy Cross College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa; and his J.D., with distinction, from Stanford Law School, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif.
