Washingtonian Magazine Names 14 Wiley Rein Attorneys to “Best Lawyers” List

November 21, 2013

Firm Chairman Richard E. Wiley is one of 14 Wiley Rein attorneys from five practice areas named to Washingtonian’s “Best Lawyers” list in its December 2013 issue.  In compiling its guide to the capital area’s “best legal minds,” the magazine selected 1,000 attorneys across 30 practice areas from the region’s “some 80,000 lawyers.”

Mr. Wiley heads the firm’s preeminent Communications Practice.  Joining him among the area’s top communications lawyers are R. Michael Senkowski, chair of the firm’s Telecommunications Practice, and Nancy J. Victory, chair of the Wireless Group.  “Cell-phone carriers, Internet providers, and broadcast companies turn to these experts,” Washingtonian says of the attorneys named in this category.

Washingtonian also recognizes four members of the Election Law & Government Ethics Practice as specialists upon whom political candidates, parties, corporations, and political action committees (PACs) rely.  Named among the best in this field are Practice co-chairs Jan Witold Baran and Michael E. Toner, and partners Carol A. Laham and Caleb P. Burns.

The magazine names H. Jason Gold, chair of the Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring Practice, and partner Valerie P. Morrison, among the most prominent lawyers to call for bankruptcy matters.

Rand L. Allen, chair of the Government Contracts Practice, and partners Paul F. Khoury and Scott M. McCaleb, are recognized among the top lawyers sought by organizations that do business with the federal government.

Washingtonian names James H. Wallace, Jr., chair of the Patent Group, and Bruce G. Joseph, chair of the Copyright Practice, among the best intellectual property attorneys who “obtain and defend patents, copyrights, and trademarks.”

The “Best Lawyers” list was developed though lawyer surveys and independent research and reporting by the magazine.
