Acting Inspector General Diana Shaw Joins Wiley’s White Collar Practice from State Department

Washington, DC – Wiley, a DC law firm, announced that Diana R. Shaw has joined the firm as a partner in the White Collar Defense & Government Investigations Practice following a distinguished career in government. Shaw most recently served as Acting Inspector General for the U.S. Department of State.

Shaw’s experience spans the full scope of congressional and Executive branch investigations. In her role at the State Department, Shaw led a global workforce whose mission is to identify fraud, abuse, and misconduct within the agency and provide accountability and transparency through independent oversight of government programs. Her accomplishments within the Office of Inspector General included investigating allegations of bid-rigging, bribery, kickbacks, fraud, and False Claims Act violations involving large U.S. and multinational corporations, and spearheading an unprecedented government-wide framework to oversee $113 billion in U.S. aid to Ukraine.

Shaw also previously held several leadership positions within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General (OIG), including as Assistant Inspector General for Special Reviews and Evaluations, Assistant Inspector General for Legal Affairs, Acting Counsel to the Inspector General, and Director of the Special Reviews Group.

“Diana is well respected on the Hill and has testified before congressional committees numerous times,” said White Collar Practice chair Ralph J. Caccia. “As part of our practice, she will be advising our clients on internal investigations and counseling Fortune 100 companies, investment banks, and global financial institutions on strengthening their compliance programs as well as assessing risks. She also has a vast amount of knowledge concerning cybersecurity and privacy laws, regulations, and policies.”

Prior to her career in government service, Shaw spent nearly a decade practicing law in the White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations group at an Am Law 100 law firm.

Shaw earned her J.D. from the University of Southern California and her B.A. from Pepperdine University. She also has a second B.A., Senior Status/Master of Arts in English Literature, from Oxford University.
