Wiley Podcast Explores Climate Change as a National Security Issue
Washington, DC – Wiley, a preeminent Washington, DC law firm, posted a podcast episode exploring President Biden’s climate initiatives as they relate to national security. The podcast features Wiley partners Tracye Winfrey Howard and Erik C. Baptist, and senior policy advisor Charlotte Bertrand.
“Climate change is in the news a lot these days, but it is not something people always associate with national security,” said Howard, a member of the firm’s Government Contracts and National Security practices.
Howard, Baptist, and Bertrand explain the numerous ways in which those issues intersect, in areas including:
- The Biden Administration’s efforts to address climate change through government contracting;
- How the Administration’s focus on climate will fundamentally alter energy sectors;
- The mitigation and adaptation proposals in the current infrastructure bill; and
- How certain environmental regulations could actually undermine the Administration’s climate change actions.
Baptist and Bertrand are members of Wiley’s Environment & Product Regulation Practice and previously worked together in senior leadership positions at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They also co-host the 2BInformed podcast series, which was launched this month and focuses on significant and impactful actions by the EPA.
