Wiley Promotes Jennifer Hindin to Co-Chair Telecom, Media & Technology Practice

November 9, 2021

Washington, DC – Wiley, a preeminent Washington, DC law firm, announced that Jennifer D. Hindin will co-chair the Telecom, Media & Technology Practice alongside Kathleen A. Kirby, effective January 1, 2022. Hindin succeeds Amb. David A. Gross, who had served as TMT co-chair with Kirby since 2016 and who remains a very active partner in the practice. Get to know Jen Hindin better by watching this interview.

“Jen’s most recent promotion is a stellar example of how an attorney’s hard work – from their earliest days as a Wiley associate – can lead to great opportunities and key leadership roles. Jen and Kathy are exemplary leaders both within the firm and throughout the TMT sectors. They will help our lawyers provide clients with the guidance and vision they need to stay ahead of the curve,” said Managing Partner Peter D. Shields. “I thank David for his many years of service co-leading our TMT Practice and am thrilled that he will remain an active Wiley partner and contributor to the group.”

Hindin joined Wiley as an associate over 25 years ago. She leads the firm’s Space and Satellite group – and will continue to serve in that role – and is a member of both the Executive and Management Committees. Part of her new role as TMT co-chair will be expanding the practice to keep up with client demand.

“I am very excited to co-chair the TMT Practice with Kathy, who has been a wonderful mentor,” said Hindin. “To keep up with the success and growing client demand, we have been expanding our TMT Practice in our core FCC regulatory practice as well as into complementary areas including appellate litigation, privacy, fintech, and national security. In doing so we recruited individuals who have occupied high-level positions at the FCC, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Department of Commerce, as well as on Capitol Hill. Some of our most recent additions include Tom Johnson, Charles McKee, Lyn Brown, and Hon. Nazak Nikakhtar.”

Hindin advises communications and technology companies on regulatory policy, spectrum, licensing and transactional matters. She focuses on space law and she represents both established and emerging satellite, earth station and international telecommunications providers.

“Having worked with Jen for many years, I know she has the strategic vision to help our team support clients with the broad spectrum of solutions for industry changes and regulatory developments,” said Kirby. “She also has the creativity and drive to help me expand the firm’s largest practice into an even greater force, with more talent and capabilities to help clients anticipate potential challenges and stay ahead of regulatory developments.”

“Jen will be a very effective leader to co-chair the TMT Practice with Kathy,” said Gross. “With Jen as co-chair, I look forward to being able to devote full time to my long-term passion – helping our clients navigate the complex world of international telecommunications and Internet issues, especially as those matters are now core to almost all cutting-edge companies.”

With more than 60 attorneys and engineers, Wiley's TMT Practice operates at the intersection of politics, law, government, business, and technological innovation, representing a wide range of clients – from Fortune 500 corporations to trade associations.
