Foster Garvey is proud to announce the naming of Paul Heer, a principal in the Investment Management group in Seattle, as co-chair of the firm’s Recruiting Committee. His appointment underscores the firm's ongoing commitment to hiring and retaining exceptional talent and making Foster Garvey the premier choice for top-tier candidates looking to grow a long-term career.
In this new role, Paul will work alongside fellow principal Nancy V. Stephens to lead the Recruiting Committee’s efforts of identifying and attracting the nation’s best candidates for summer associate and first-year associate positions to continue building the firm’s next generation of leaders. Paul succeeds outgoing co-chair David West who served in this capacity since 2021.
“Paul’s insights will be invaluable for us and our candidates,” said Nancy V. Stephens, Recruiting Committee co-chair and an attorney in the firm’s Intellectual Property group. “He brings a unique perspective, having firsthand experiences navigating life as both a summer associate and a first-year attorney here and understanding what it takes to cultivate a successful career at the firm.”

Paul is the epitome of a homegrown attorney, beginning his career at Foster Garvey as a summer associate while in law school, then continuing his journey as a law clerk until graduation and eventually joining the firm as an associate in 2016.
Over the past decade, Paul has demonstrated his leadership and dedication to upholding Foster Garvey’s values and client service through his participation in vital firmwide programs, including serving as the co-chair of the Opportunity & Progress Council – the firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiative – and devoting countless pro bono hours in support of public service and community-focused causes.

Paul is recognized as a community leader through his work with the Washington Joint Minority Mentorship Program (JMMP), the Seattle Clemency Project and pro bono work more broadly.
Paul graduated, magna cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law and previously served on its Alumni Board from 2017-2024. He obtained his B.A. from the University of Washington. Paul is also an alum of the Leadership Tomorrow Class of 2021.
