Wiley’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) team works on the cutting edge of strategy, advocacy, and counseling, with years of experience advising clients on AI and machine learning approaches. We combine a deep knowledge of policy and regulatory activity with a close familiarity of AI technology and legal issues. We advise clients ranging from startups to critical infrastructure providers to government contractors on AI strategy, policy, and deployment, and handle government inquiries. Our team also maintains a detailed tracker of AI developments and helps clients prioritize their strategic approaches to AI.
Our team’s extensive experience includes:
- Advising clients on legal and regulatory risks related to privacy, safety, security, fairness, transparency, explainability, and accountability in artificial intelligence deployment.
- Developing corporate policies, principles, and governance approaches for companies implementing artificial intelligence, including public companies.
- Advising clients on legislative and enforcement developments and strategy related to artificial intelligence and algorithmic decision-making.
- Counseling on compliance with specific applicable laws and regulations, including fair lending laws, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and state artificial intelligence laws.
- Drafting advocacy in federal and state regulatory proceedings related to artificial intelligence and algorithms, including at the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Commerce, and the California Privacy Protection Agency.
- Successfully handling government inquiries into artificial intelligence and data privacy practices.
- Advising on intellectual property considerations in the development and deployment of artificial intelligence.
Our team has experience working across sectors, including critical infrastructure, government contractors, non-profit organizations, and technology companies. We handle matters involving generative AI, biometrics, facial recognition, cybersecurity, and other uses of AI, and their implications in the areas of privacy and cybersecurity, international trade, government contracting, and intellectual property.
