As of August 28, 2024, Missouri HOAs will no longer be allowed under state law to prohibit homeowners from owning chickens in their backyard, even if their covenants and restrictions have banned it outright.

For KCUR's article, "Homeowners associations in Missouri can no longer ban backyard chickens," they interviewed and quoted Kyle Gally on what this new provision means for HOAs specifically when it comes to drafting new community rules. KCUR interviewed Kyle because of his recent blog, "Ruffled Feathers: HOA Restrictions on Raising Chickens" which details the new House Bill.
