Overview
For almost 20 years, Ken has protected the interests of professionals in a variety of industries. To quote one of his recent clients, “no professional likes to be sued, but if it happens, you want lawyers like Ken [and his team] in your corner.” He’s built his practice on the foundation that everyone deserves to be heard, and with the understanding that a claim against any professional is a threat to a business and someone’s livelihood.
As co-chair of the Professional Liability Service Group, Ken defends professionals in a wide range of industries, including legal, architecture, engineering, insurance, accounting, real estate, and construction. He defends corporate clients in allegations of fraud, conspiracy, breach of fiduciary duty and misrepresentation. Ken helps insurance professionals and third-party administrators resolve issues stemming from allegations that they somehow conspired, or otherwise “cheated” the claimant or some other third-party of benefits. He also represents estate planning professionals, such as lawyers and accountants, in claims of wrongdoings by beneficiaries of the estates.
When it comes to malpractice, Ken is experienced in representing lawyers in claims where the underlying issues involve contracts, personal injury claims, corporate and fiduciary responsibilities, real estate, trust and estate planning, workers’ compensation, insurance, intellectual property, litigation, employment, immigration, tax, bankruptcy and foreclosure.
As a member of the firm’s Construction Service Group, Ken represents design professionals in construction defect lawsuits and pre-suit claims. He defends architects and all types of engineers in personal injury and construction defect claims that occur during construction after the design work has been completed.
A talented litigator, Ken is often called upon to take over cases when prior counsel simply can’t bring the case to a resolution. He’s tried more than 10 cases to verdict and has resolved many more disputes before they reach a courtroom.
Ken defends federal, state and local professionals in claims of discrimination, both in court and at the administrative level. He defends both legal and medical professionals before licensing boards. Ken also represents professionals before various state and federal agencies, including the ARDC and the Illinois Department of Human Rights.
Ken is also active in his community. After serving as the president of the local soccer program for many years, in 2023 Ken was elected to his local Park District Board of Commissioners. Ken is also an active scout leader in his community and serves in various leadership roles at his family’s church.
