In “Guidance for Attorneys in Dealing with Cybersecurity Risks,” Karen Tobin discusses the importance of keeping client information confidential in this age of technology. Many attorneys assume that their Technology Departments set up secure ways for them to store information, but the fact is, human error plays a large role in the breach of confidential client information. An attorney could misaddress an email, a USB drive with client information could be lost or stolen; the possibilities are endless. Attorneys need to be hyper-aware of the potential for information to be misdirected.
